Elvis Presley - Artwork with metal from the original Hollywood Sign
Own a piece of American history!
In early 2017, a group of passionate cinema and history buffs and art and watch enthusiasts, were able to acquire all of the remaining metal from the original Hollywood Sign with the goal of preserving history… but much more than preserving history, our goal was to find a way to hand the world’s sign back to the people. And so, Hollywood 1923 was born.
Throughout its history, the Hollywood Sign has formed a mystique and an iconic cultural status that reaches around the world. Upon arriving in Hollywood, aspiring young actors, actresses and film directors would make the pilgrimage up the steep slopes of Mount Lee to reach out and touch the sign, hoping to absorb the energy of success and stardom contained within its white-painted tin. Star-crossed lovers would leave their poetic graffiti for all to see. Tourists and celebrities alike would photograph it from a million angles, leaving no question as to where they’d been. No matter who you ask, one thing is certain, the symbol of the cinematic and entertainment capital of the world is the Hollywood Sign.
In celebration of the remarkable journeys, hopes and dreams the sign has witnessed, we are pleased to release a limited number of museum-framed collectibles that include the following:
